Peoples thoughts on coloured tack please? ~

My friend gave me a baby blue bridle, I always intended on selling however I am not sure how much it would be worth? It is fairly padded and isn't too tarnished either. Not sure how common these are in full size, couldn't find one to compare a price with anywhere on the internet! Maybe I am looking in the wrong places :p

I do fancy endurance riding but not sure if it is worth keeping for that??.... is it just tacky regardless of what discipline you compete under?

i really like it on the Arabs i see near me, i passed a rider the other day and she had bridle, reins, saddlepad and wraps ,all in pale blue and i thought it looked lovely, her horse was grey like mine and i admit i did go on line and have a peek at costs!

I find coloured tack incredibly tacky BUT thats because the stuff I have seen is low-end cheap imported rubbish at £15 a bridle and to be honest even the black and havanna stuff in those ranges leaves me cold

If you could get beautifully made coloured tack (maybe you can?) I would probably think differently but as yet I haven't seen anything

Exactly this!

Coloured tack is an extremely niche market

It's great for endurance, the amount of water you use means it last longer than leather tack, most bridges you can convert to a headcollar saving time in vet gates. There are a couple of makes I can recommend!

It depends on the bridle/saddle. Endurance tack is vastly different to a normal flash in baby blue (which is tack as all hell) it it is a normal bridle, its not worth the energy to sell it, if its a proper endurance type it could be worth a few quid.

Coloured tack for exercise is fine. I had a bright blue synthetic bridle that I used for exercise for about 20 years, brilliant, bunged it in the washing machine every now and then, loved it. I have seen bridles in all colours here.

Coloured tack, stirrups, bits, saddles for kids is absolutely fine (at home) anything to get little bums in saddles.

Coloured tack for endurance is practically de rigeur. :D

Coloured tack for riding English in public is totally not the thing (sorry boring traditionalist here too)

Coloured tack for western - well, hey, anything goes (including colour, bling and fur) and a lot of the time it works.

All my tack is embossed, braided, threaded or painted, but I ride for fun and don't give a monkeys what anyone thinks of me ;) Hey, even my stirrups are painted - turquoise ones today :)

I don't give a monkey's what color tack people have on tbh. Dress your horse in jingle bells for all I care!
what's it made out of? biothane? nylon? that would alter how much you can price it on ebay. I have a bright blue hackamore for hacking, I'ts an endurance one and good quality. Obviously for hunting or something I still have a traditional bridle, but for everyday riding I am just bored of years of using brown leather tack and want something more practical to clean and that doesn't grow mould on itself after 5 mins in a damp tackroom :P
If it's nice quality you should be able to get rid of it.

Time and place for everything. Synthetic tack of whatever colour you want is just the best for endurance as are coloured tights and weather appropriate clothing. Anywhere else not so much!

Am old enough to remember endurance pre biothene and it wasn't fun!

OP - price will depend on the brand and type. The good quality ones are NZ$150 ish, but you can buy cheap versions for NZ$30.

Ok been on line to see it, not something I would not want but if you like it why not. I am sure your horse couldn't care less as long as he is comfortable.

Coloured tack ? Absolutely, as long as the colour is brown or at the most exotic ... dare I say it ... black. Sorry, I'm extremely traditional. Even "black" is through gritted teeth for me ! But I'm sure it will look lovely :)

I think it is just leather. I agree that its not all about how things look so long as it does what you need it to do! However its not my cup of tea lol. I'm sure someone will like it, seems a waste to bin it!
