Hi All

I'm keen to show my coloured yearling this summer but have never shown in my life and am thoroughly confused about colours.....could anyone help with the following queries.....

1. She's a piebald but I've been told both a black bridle is most suitable AND it's havana all the way for showing. Would either be ok? I haven't bought her tack yet.

2. What would I wear? Tweed, cream trousers.....would black boots be ok? Navy hat? Gloves and show cane to match tack?

It's a minefield! Am tempted to stick to my hunter trials etc haha, but know it's invaluable education to get youngsters out and about, plus showing looks a lot of fun.

Thank you for any help :)

The tack and your outfit usually depends on what class you are entering. What are you showing her as? i.e. hunter, show hunter, shetland, coloured classes....

If its just local level, unaffiliated shows then its not so critical. What you have suggested sounds ok. The trousers you wear normally contrast the horses legs i.e. if the legs are dark then light trousers and vice versa.
Maybe you could watch a few shows first to see what the people in your intended class(es) wear.

Brown tack and tweed is correct.

Opposite colour trousers from her legs. Black boots are correct but you want brown gloves.

Good luck i think it is a fab intro to the world for youngsters.

P.s. As a baby she should be shown in an inhand bridle i think.
