Colouring genetics q

I know sod all about how colour genetics work, and the stallions owner just sent me this through- he is bay .... my mare is a red dun to all intents and purposes but I’ve never had her genetically tested ?‍ She goes darker chestnut in her winter coat but golden in summer with dorsal stripe and leg barrings.

Any thoughts on goal colourings?

Depending on the zygosity of your mares agouti status you could end up with black bay or red with 100% chance of nd1 which is sort of feeble dun some primitives with little dilution.
Do you know much about your mares parents are they both dun?
If your mare has one copy of the dun gene (one dun parent) you have 50%chance of bay dun, red dun or grulla.

Well according to the people I bought her from she is Grey ID sure x chestnut TB and yet numerous folk have said her colouring doesn’t fit that bill.... as long as I don’t get a grey I don’t care tbf ??‍

You won't get grey as neither your mare or the stallion is grey. Grey doesn't hide. As she is ID X TB I'm surprised she looks so phenotypically dun! It may be that she is also nd1 too which can give the dorsal and leg bars etc. There's not many true dun carrying breeds in the UK it's in Highlands and Shetlands and a very rare Welsh blood line, it's more commonly found in new world/US breeds, Icelandics, some old European pony breeds etc.

I have always thought she is more QH where you do see red duns ?
