Im new to here and really looking for some advice from you all regarding fear and nerves about getting back in the saddle!!

A while ago I had a nasty accident leaving me nervous and scared around horses and getting back in the saddle. I have owned and ridden and shown ponies and horse for over 20 years!!!

I have recently purchased an absolute dream of a pony that has sorted some of my fears out, its just time now to get back on to her and hit the county show curcuit next year!!

Has anyone got and tips and advice that can help me combat this stupid fear

Yep - TFT!! I had an accident with my old boy in 2005 and after reading about TFT on here I bit the bullet and did it. Do a search on here for more info. I dont know how it works but i dont care TBH. Have gone from nervous nelly, stiff as a bopard anytime a horse moved, I just couldnt relax to now being back doing SJ, XC and happily sorting out naughty behaviour without a care in the world

I did it through jo cooper (as did many on here) www.jo-cooper.com

Another vote for Jo Cooper from me. I had a bad fall from a horse that took off with me, then a bad accident with another horse. After surgery and 1 year of physio, I did start riding again but my nerves were shot to pieces. Jo really helped me - the consultations are by phone and are well worth it.

thank you guys for your advice...Jo Cooper seems to be the way to go....Does anyone know if you just ring her or email her etc

Have looked at her website and it seems to be under construction

Just take it very easy, start by just sitting on your pony and build uo from there. It will happen if you are patient and persevere.Even if it takes months or years, just try. We have all been there to a lesser or greater extent. Good luck. You are braver than you think.

Go to the Contact page and you can follow the email link or phone her. She will get in touch with you with a convenient time for a phone consult. This can take a good hour, so make sure you have plenty of time. It cost me £50, but I don't know what her charges are now.

TFT - Thoughtfield Therapy!
It's absolutely terrific - don't ask me HOW it works... it just DOES!
Take a look at www.jocooper.com
and www.thoughtfieldtherapy.co.uk
Jo is really good - so understanding - she works with a lot of riders and understands why people are afraid and can help you through your anxieties - You do it over the telephone, it generally takes one or two sessions and believe me... it works straight away - it's unbelievable - Think Jo still has a money back guarantee to get rid of your fears!
