Morning Peeps!!

Well, this is one very happy Bandit! The Bon Monster was a star on Saturday doing her first dressage since September last year and jumping outdoors!!! All this after our recent bucking displays too !!!

We had an early start - 3rd to go @ 09.02, so aimed to get there for 8 to warm up - she needs alot of time to settle and listen. Anyway - warmed up and she was going very nicely, calm and no bucking

- friend who was there suggested I look a little more relaxed, and as I did, so did Bonnie , bless her.

Anyway - in the arena and we trot round the boards nicely on both reins and then start hte test - it seemed to go well, quite rhythmical etc, although we did fall out of canter to trot a bit - and almost went outside the boards as our 20 m cirlce was a bit too big

.... However the long and short of it was she listened and didn't buck, so I was oh so happy with her!

Back to lorry to get booted up for jumping etc, and then back to warm up - this time we had an altercation with a 1 eyed elderly cat who was happily milling in front of the warm up jumps - Bonnie took an immediate dislike and put in the most massive fly buck - and poor me landed on the ground on my knees

!!

We had some distance issues over practice fences and although she jumped them each time, I was getting a bit out of my depth, so lowered the oxer down and did a smaller jump before going in the ring.

There were only 8 fences, the last being a rather large double towards the gate.. Anyway - got round the first 3 nicely, and then to the forth, we just got too close and rolled it, 5 and 6 were lovely, and then not enough canter to the 7th so a stop, came again and we flew - and knowing the double was much bigger, i kicked on and she flew - and made the distance inbetweeen which for her is long and flew the 2nd part!

It was only training so i don't know what my score is dressage wise, but i will get my sheet back when i'm there next week. and the 8 faults jumping were mine.

I was extremly happy with her, she listened to me and behaved which is the aim of the game just now... We're doing it all again in 2 weeks! Can't wait!

Thanks for reading (my groom did a better job of grooming than videoing as it all stops on entering at A!!!)

YAY well done Bandit.
Dressage sounds like you have basics now and you managed to contain her and keep her concentration which is fabulous.
The falling out of the arena etc will come, as will the falling out of canter, all things to work on, but keeping her back end on the floor is the main thing lol

SJing too, try not to get too engrossed in the practice arena. Although slightly difficult when Bonmonster has had a disagreement with a one eyed cat lol

Sounds a promising start hunny, plus it was dry YAY!

Are you competing again this next weekend?

cheers BB's

She was good as gold (albeit the cat got in the way!)..

Next w/end is Farrier which I have to box her to

But at the same place again on the 31st - again just Intro test and heights but hope at least to go clear SJ next time. She goes behind the leg sometimes jumping and I just need to be confident in getting my leg on her in the hope she doesn't buck it off!

What you got planned ?

Just what I need to do really....
Well trying to get into Addington on saturday as Sunday Im grooming at Gatcombe for Sarah Jane and Miss De Meena so no chance of doing anything.
Addington run a ODE on a surface, I need to do the intro dressage test, but the SJ and XC is only 85 cm.
He needs to be doing the Novice really which is over 1m but we need to do the intro tests lol
So he may have to just put up wtih jumping 85cm. Equally, they use logs and things in the xc phase so it will do him good i guess.
If i cannot get in, will try and get a training session in.
Following week SJing, xc if i can get him in then the monday we have our Geoff Luckett lesson

Hi Bandit, I must have been warming up the same time as you on Saturday my dressage was at 9.32. My boy freaked out at the mingy cat as well and we nearly ran it over at one point. I had an ok dressage but we went clear sj which I was very pleased with as we had a lot of problems last year. I really enjoyed the day too. Glad your girl was good well done.

oh - were you on a chestnut??? did you see me come off? the fact they dont allow dogs there but allow their cats to be there is beyond me. normally they are v hot on H&S and I should have said something..

will you be there on 31st?

Well done for going clear though - I let my girl down but hope to improve on that!

Yeah I was on the chestnut, I didn't see you come off it may have been while I was doing my test, several people hit the deck as well, I was a bit dissapointed with our dressage, I wanted to keep him calm and relaxed for the sj so I played it safe and he did a bit of a lazy test and he had a sneeze that wouldn't come out so he was trotting along with his nose down making a groaning noise until eventually he managed to sneeze. I was really pleased with our sj round though.

oh - there was another chestnut that almost stood on the cat as I was on the ground so you may have been a different one LOL!!!

I'm pleased with the dressage as it's the first time i've done one without bucking! the jumping will come!

oh - that is quite funny bout hte sneeze however at least you remained calm!

That may have been me we nearly trod on the blooming thing over by the practice fences. Glad you were pleased with your dressage, just been on the website but results aren't up yet. Not sure whether I'm gonna go on the 31st as there is a hunter trial at tweseldown and I could do with a run before Larkhill.
