Right so have a frizzy mane cob...well half a mane due to rugs rubbing it out... as you might just be able to see from photo:

And next weekend 24th Jan i am planning to do a combined training event....

do i need to plait... is it worth the effort!
His mane normally behaves fairly well and i pulled it a few weeks ago so should lie fairly flat...
we are working on the dressage stuff so its not that like i particularly need to highlight his neck!

he is used to jumping with his locks flowing free... i read somewhere on here a while back that plaiting might hinder performance... NO idea if that true but given our current dressage ability i need the best jumping i can get!

I always think for dressage plaited looks so much smarter. Recent convert for years I was a showjumper who never, ever plaited!! I generally just use bands which I find alot quicker and can now do my horse in about 20 minutes so it is not that much hassle.

I know judges shouldn't take it into account but first impressions do count I think.

Oh and take them out for jumping if you are at all worried about it effecting his performance - can't really see it would though personally. And yes your saddle cloth will be fine.

As a courtesy to the dressage judge you should plait. If you wish you can then take them out for the jumping.

Good luck with the CT.
