Combo stable rugs, which one?

Im on the hunt for a combo heavy weight stable rug but my horse is a pain in the bum with trying to get a rug which fits properly!! She has quite a large upright shoulder and currently the rugs which dont go well with her are; Amigo - to restricting around the front which has resulted in the rug ripping at both sides were the breast straps attach to the rug but the dept is good ... Shires - I have a shires fleece which isnt deep enough so her belly hangs out although the shires turnouts are fine, dont know what there stable rugs are like ... Masta - to wide at the front so they slip back and dig into her chest, im not a fan of the cotton lining either. Has anyone got any suggestions as to which combo rug to go for? Iv been looking at the weatherbeeta and PE ones but any suggestions are most apprieciated :D
 
weatherbeeta belmont combo fit all my various shaped and sized bobbos nicely :). they are very warm, good quality and shiny exterior which helps repel wee/poo moisture. They are plenty generous around the shoulders for my broad chested ISH and are very deep (they are the horse equivalent of a duvet :p). My only comment would be that the sizes come up HUGE in my experience so consider buying one size smaller than usual :)
 
Ah good to know :) I nearly bought the belmont the other day in my horses usual size, so she may have been drowned in it :p It was on the Robinsons rug sale for £35 but when i went to buy it it was something like £67 so I didnt bother buying it. Found it for £50 so thought I would ask opinions on it and others to see which ones others recommended before buying.
 
The budget ranges are often skimpier than the top ranges within the same company. So Rambo rugs are alot deeper than Amigo rugs (someone on here had a lovely photo showing this) even though they are both made by Horseware.

If the Shires turnout is a good fit, I would look at their top range (Chillcheeta and Snug rug) stable rug and try to get it on sale in last years colour or bag an ebay bargain if possible. :)
 
yes shop around for the belmont combos the price varies and they are often to be found in sales as the design rarely changes but the colour can yearly this is often a good option :). mine have lasted really well and are a staple part of the winter stable wardrobe :)

Actually I don't think that is necessarily true. Anyway a good combo heavy that I bought from Clitheroe market/auction was made by Gallop, I had never heard of them but at £20 I thought not going to lose much. Anyway he wore it loads last winter and it washes up beautifully.
Hope you find something, Fany is hard to buy rugs for and I know it gets frustrating.

You'll do a lot worse than the Weatherbeeta Belmont Combo. If you look at other combo's beware of the neck seam which is sometimes lined with binding and it rubs at the join. Very uncomfortable and mane destroying :(
 
You'll need either a weatherbeeta or a Mark Todd, had exactly the same problem with my horse and both of these (and rambo's as well) fit like a treat!

^^^This, exactly + they are light yet uber warm, so you don't feel like you are weighing your horse down with really heavy rugs!
