I took Darcey out with a friend and her mare on Thursday. We were heading for the loch near us which is a nice 2 hour hack there and back. Darcey didnt seem too thrilled at the prospect of going out!

A little bit of road work first and then
we hit the woods

At which point Darcey started to perk up a bit! Carry on through the woods

And you soon arrive at the water

Which Darcey kept a very suspicious eye on the whole way round!

After a little snack stop it was time to head back to the woods

The last little bit of the hack before we head back onto the road the horses can see their herd and fields. Darcey found this fascinating and I had to remove her ears from my nose!

It was a lovely hack and she was ace but my goodness I was sore after it!

lmao at "remove her ears from up my nose" :D
I had to do this with my ginger yesterday when he went into the fields for the first time

she's such a nice colour, but then again, I love a nice shiny ginger :p

I do like your 'photo story'!! I might try it next time we are out. Would be nice to see everyone's routes like this! :D

Glad you like it guys! We are sooo spoiled with the hacking! And Darcey thinks she's rather lovely as well!

It looks a lovely area to hack around! Really nice to see some pics of someone elses hacking route. I filmed bits of mine the other day but haven't got round to putting them up yet, and they don't look as nice as that anyway!!!

your in the east end aren't you?
it looks so nice - I'm jealous. we're limited to hacking through four fields atm :(
will have to take the ginger one back home as I miss our hacking.

really?
saying that, I used to hack over the m8 to get off-road :D
think I'd get away with parking the lorry at the fort and hacking him through the car park? :p

Yep really! The bit of roadwork I mentioned is just skirting round the side of easterhouse! We are at the back of the fort so not the motorway side and it's actually nice and quiet! If u have transport you should come down and we can have a bouncy gingers day out!

I'll check with my YO but I don't think she'll have a problem with you parking with us (we have three main parking spaces within the yard) and coming out. And scare the locals? You must be having a laugh! Nothing scares that lot from easterhouse! Although the kids we have met have actually all been very respectful and friendly!

What a lovely thread - I really enjoyed coning on your hack with you.

I know what you mean about 'ears up your nose' ! My daughter's old pony used to do that and speed walk on the way home from a hack.

Must remember to take my camera with me next time I hack Manni out.

It's so funny Boxers because she's bouncy but not really pulling! She just holds her head up really high! The girl who was with us was amazed but I've already got used to how high her head is!

OP - love your photos. And the fact that your mare's mane is in a different position in every pic! The wind? Dancing?!!
