oK, We often hear about horses vices and the things they get up to! What about us!

What are your vices?

What is your worst habit, horsey and non horsey??

My vices :D
I smoke, I drink copious amounts of Rose Wine on weekends and I am addicted to chocolate.

Worst non horsey habit - I suck my thumb :rolleyes:

Worst Horsey habit - I have OCD when it comes to my horses stable, Bed has to be nugget free :D/perfect banks and level in the middle.

My friends worst habit is she is anal about hanging haynets safely (which is a good thing, but most people at most maybe re tie it twice max, she does it about 500 times!

I can think of loads more though :D

I smoke, drink copious amounts of rose wine, eat far too much chocolate and suck my thumb constantly... How bizare :)
 
I think you may be my twin with regards to smoking and rose wine at weekends!! :) LOL
Horsey- hmmmm feed has to be properly mixed- dunno why it all goes down the same way!! boots have to be on just so, and dont even get me started on bandages (have been known to re do em about 8 times if thty arent right!
I click alot too.....
 
Worst horsey one - tail brushing. Cant possibly ride if my horses tail has knots in it.

Worst non horsey - used to bite my nails but after 20 years have stopped (3 months ago) and now its probably drinking too much wine and eating too much cheese.
 
Oh dear ciggies and coffee are mine. Not that keen on alcohol so not a problem there

My horsey one is that I like them to go out in the field every day, whatever the weather. I hate them being in 24/7
 
Ummmm..... I drink (not even fussy what), I smoke, I love cheese and chocolate and fail in resisting them...

I click and make kiss noises when working with them. I have a fetish for rugs and horse boots - would be for saddles as well if I had a bit more cash to play with!

OCD also trying up nets - has to be a certain way and no-one else seems to be able to untie them. I'm also very fussy about foot care with the boys. Beds have to be picture perfect - deep, inviting and with spirit-levelled banks!

Other than that, I am safe, sane and well balanced!
 
Horsey habit- Headcollars left hanging upside down still tied to the string - somebody Will break their leg one day ! Empty haynets in stables- Bits not washed properly after riding and left to go dry and crusty ! Dirty tack !

Non horsey - ummm Tea - copious amounts during the day ! and cheese !!
 
Horsey, I am especially fussy about straight banks and bed, and have to make a straight line at the front & have it well brushed back. I think people whe put their horse to bed in a stable without straight lines or with shavings on the front floor bit are MAD! INSANE! I tell you!

Non horsey, I eat too much and am incredibly messy. I also hate cleaning and decorating but am VERY particular with my artwork. If it aint perfect it makes me mental :P

I click to my horses, i sing to them :D Ayla actually listens and enjoys it even though i sound like a cat in pain :p

I HAVE to maky the horses feeds, cant stand anyone else doing it! i have to hang my hay net!

Bad habit, having a cigarette everytime i get in the car or wake up even if i dont need it :) Force of habit :rolleyes:

Oh dear.... guilty of the well laid bed, clear of nuggets and swept back stable too !!
 
My worst horsey habbit would have to be checking locks, I can't count how many times I check the locks on field gets etc!
My worst non-horsey habbits would probably be smoking, drinking and swearing.

Ditto and I smoke...

I am really anal about things and if they are not going to be done properly I don't do them until they can be done properly.

I really can't cope if people do not put things back where they are supposed to go and neatly. Drives me up the wall and round the bend. Not so bad at home but on my yard I am really really narky about it.

When I stopped my last share it took forever to get things straight again and one of the girls had left a head collar dumped in a hedge... gerrr. They have to be just so or I get really narked. Beds have to be just so (deep with big banks that are all straight), haynets tied in a certain way, buckets scrubbed every day with washing up liquid and rinsed properly... I am bad when they are in everything has to be just so but my paddock needs poo picking badly! The people who help me out occasionally (Mum, Dad, Shepherds x2) know I am ansty about things and know why! I also got in there quick and trained them up to roll up ropes etc. Can't stand ropes and head collars left all over the place.

The thing is when everything is just so everyone knows where to find things, everyone knows which headcollar is for whom, if there is an emergency everyone knows where to find things or if I need bit of a hand and one of the guys from the farm is around they know what is what and where. Its just far less stressful for everyone all round. If they need to borrow something they know where to look it just works when its tidy and doesn't when its a mess. I can feel my blood starting to heat up at the thought of a messy yard....
 
Nail biting is my worst one - I have the most disgusting nails I have ever seen! I could stop if I wnated to but I get some wierd pleasure from ripping them all off with my teeth LOL :(

I eat too much junk (I think I'd be seriously ill if OH didn't cook the evening meal LOL) especially chocolate, cakes and sweets.

I swear too often :( although I am far better than I used to be.

I probably drink more than I ought to.

Non horsey - addicted to nicotine gum. Swearing.
Horsey - poo picking religiously twice a day. I could say more but must preserve some dignity!
 
Non horsey - Im a fag ash lil, with a vile navvy potty mouth! Not proud of it but there you go! Igf you cant find me Ill be somewhere with a ciggy hanging out of my mouth, hot, strong black coffee plugged directly into a vein! I however dont drink (only a small rose occasionally) and I rarely spend money that isnt horse/fag/coffee related...oh, and I eat too much!

Horsey - 1) Im anal about beds (Im a groom! :) ) 2) rugs have to be put on properly and I HATE any rugs that pull back and go tight around the chest - fleeces mainly! 3) Numnahs have to be straight and pulled into the gullet properly - I get a twitch if I see someone with a wonky/flat numnah!! 4) Twisted reins make me cringe!!
There are so many..I think I may have a problem!! :D
 
Non horsey i chew my nails. I had a nail technician tell me that there are more germs under your nail than on a toilet seat. I still cant stop chewing them though!

Horsey - When i ride my polypad has to be the exact way round with the tag sticking out on my left hand side!
 
Horsey -
Completely OCD about power hosing the yard if it gets *gasp* muddy.
Taking bits off and soaking after every ride.
Detest wonky nosebands and bit's that don't fit.
Hate rubber or thick reins.
Numnah's off saddles once untacked.
Have to have the horse working properly, be it hacking, schooling, lunging or otherwise. Manners are a complete MUST.

Non-horsey -
Completely addicted to chocolate. Anything and everything must have it. LOL.
Hate dog hairs on my clothes.
Hate loud noises.
Love time to myself.
Have a thing about food...only really have dinner at night and occasionally lunch or something, but if I buy junk food to snack on, I get waaaay too paranoid about my weight at the end of the day!

Well, I'm another thumb-sucker!! So glad I'm not alone. :D I have sucked my thumb for 20 years and it has ruined my teeth but oh well. I used to do it all night long and couldn't sleep without it but now it's more of a day thing when I'm tired!

I also love chocolate but am constantly on a diet so deny myself. I used to drink a lot of rosé but cut down after I drank 3 bottles in a pub then vomited and passed out in the hedge outside my house (classy)! I am also a cheese lover... in fact... I love most food far too much. My biggest foodie vice is my portion sizes!

As for horsey vice... hmm... I don't clean my tack enough? There's nothing that I'm particularly anal about as mine live out 24/7 all year round and I have to depend on my mum to feed them sometimes (though I'd like to do it myself everyday).
 
We ALL missed one important one out - being addicted to HHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

non- horsey = eating, boozing, swearing. Biting nails. Being gloriously untidy, and always late. Addicted to tea.
I score highly on the autism test so I also have slight autistic/OCD tendencies - straightening pictures/furniture, fear of 'bits', anxiety over numerous silly things.

talking to my horse when I am hacking out - proper conversations, not just the odd word.
being petrified of jumping etc - but getting braver these days.
 
Horsey:
* Anal about nets, the knot in the rope must be at the net! I have been known to take down the other grooms nets at work and redo them!
* Rugs, must be hanging the same way neatly!
* Everything must be put back where it came from
* Head collars must be done up before hanging them up
* Muck heap must be tidy - I can spend ages getting it just so!

Non horsey:

* I am a slob! My house is minging!
* I smoke
* I swear
* I drive too fast and get road rage with other drivers *see comment in SFA thread today!
 
So I'm the hay net hanger!! I hate them! Have to hang them at least twice, and if my mare eats any out of it I have to hang them again!!
Have to fully sweep the yard at least twice a day.
Another one for horses having to work properly - can't stand seeing people think there horse is going well cos it's head is down but it's hocks are a mile behind it.
I check padlocks a million times - often get to the end of the drive and have to turn round and go back to check.
Jumps cups that don't have poles on must not be left in wings.

Non-horsey -

Too much wine, cheese, crisps and fags!


I'm sure there's millions more!
 
This is a really good thread - nice to know I'm not the only 1 with rug and boot obsessions!! I too have a potty mouth and would save a fortune if I had a swear box!!! My horese bed has to be perfect even thought she trashes it every night and I'm OCD about her being clean when competing, can't do it all the time she's mainly white!!! Looking forward to a few more after I've ridden!! Many thanks peeps xx

I'm boring!
I don't smoke (never even tried it), drink (can't stand it), swear (no really... I wince if I ever say *****).
I do eat more than my body needs to function and tend not to stop eating until all the food in front of me is gone.
I don't like going out clubbing as crowded places with drunk people in upset me.
I have to have therapy about my phobia of needles as until recently I couldn't enter a room if I knew there was a possibility of a needle being there!
I stress about stupid things like my knife and fork not matching to the point where I won't eat unless they match, or a house not being symmetrical (I have a loooong list of "get out clauses" for those "unacceptable" houses, they make my sister laugh a lot)
My bedroom is the only place I can deal with being a mess... therefore it is a tip!

Horsey...
For some reason my anal and odd behavior doesn't stretch to the horse world. I am very very lackadaisical most of the time, although I clean my tack after every ride and strip it down once every month or two... this takes at least 3 hours.
I talk to horses constantly and click and kiss about as much... fine, this seems to be quite normal... I also do it to cars!
