Hi!
Looking to buy a comfort bridle for my youngster. I have looked at the Shires Avignon Comfort Flash bridle. I'm confused because the description says detachable flash attachments, but it doesn't look like this. Anyone can confirm it does detach completely to look like a snaffle bridle?

Also opinions on other good english leather comfort bridles most welcome :)

Thanks!

John whittaker one is much better!!!
The design on all bar PS sweden and John whitaker mean you end up with noseband attachement and cheek pieces running over the top of one another.

I love my sabre bridle - I ended up with that as I just wanted a plain noseband - no crank and no flash (I've had it for a while, I think there are more options now). And it offered so many ways to customise and buy exactly what you want/need. Service from their website was very good too - quick delivery.

Could I be a pain and ask to read it too please?

I don't know how related this is but the last time I rode my mare in a comfort bridle (collegiate hannovarian) it ended up slipping off over her ears twice on the same hack, whilst trotting on the road.

yes it is

Not all comfort bridles use this design with a slot for nose band to thread through
The avignon doesn't - nose band buckles on either side of headpiece (mono crown) Same for silver crown, and dever and various others. Unfortunately it's often hard to tell from the description / photos on a web site which type it is (which type is the evison ?)
I'd be interested to know Oz's thoughts on mono crown design as it seems very practical to me. Sorry for hijacking!

I like the mono crown bridles as the noseband doesn't move around when tacking/untacking.

All i would say is look at where the noseband and cheek pieces end up laying.
My JW one has the throat lash underneath and the cheek piece and noseband as the main straps-
This means it all lays seperately and flat against the horse.

PS is the only other one ive seen like that!
