Which ones can you recommend?

Looking for one with traditional billet fittings (ie not buckles round bit) and pref english but not loads of £'s as it will be about bridle no. 8 and theres not a lot wrong with the other 7!!

(I really must get my head round e-bay!)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I've used an elevator, made by horsesense in solihull, for 4 years. english made and traditional billets. fantastic bridle, deffinitly makes my horses work better on the flat

I've just bought a Stubben & wanted a padded headpiece as my new boy is fussy around his ears/poll. The bridle itself is standard design but I bought the Stubben Poll Pad & it's lovely & well padded. I paid £25 for it but have seen it for less on ebay. Something like that would allow you to get a cheaper bridle & buy the pad seperatly & add it on.
Not sure if that helps but might be worth looking into. Also it would mean you could use it on other bridles if you needed/wanted to.

I found the Stubben headpiece pad to be very soft and squishy though wheras the comfort bridles I have looked at buying were quite hard and bulky. The Stubben pad fitted all 3 of my bridles absolutely fine, if I thought my horses needed it I would get one again, not a comfort bridle....

Thanks ID - have tried the prolite headpiece thingy but thought it looked a bit bulky and untidy for competing. Tried the noseband version which is a bit neater but thought the real thing may be better. Agree leather needs to be soft - haven't seen the stubben one in the flesh!
