Can anyone recommend one? Especially ones for bigger calves...

Most cheap ones I've found keep your feet dry, but there's no way you can walk in them for ages!!!

As a girl with BIG legs I gave up on cheap boats ages ago. I only have one type of wellie boot now and thats a muck boot. Comfortable, long lasting, warm, good grip but not cheap.

Hi Yes I had the muck boots in 3/4 for my larger calf and they are sooo comfortable and stretchy. I cant remember which ones I had but the sole was very fine and when it was wet it was lethal on a pavement as if I was walking on ice.I never got anymore. However looking at the Derwent pic they look better(normal sole) and I know my sister has these ones and she loves them.

I ride in normal cheapie 3/4 wellies and walk in them too and they cost £9.

I have recently purchased some Toggi Welles with a gusset on the side. And I find these really good for walking the dogs in!!! And my calves fit in them no problem!!! I struggle with a lot of boots but so far these are great and looking forward to wearing them this winter!!

I buy wellies from my local farm shop with goog thick soles and good insoles.

I had 2 pairs of Hunters and they only lasted a few months before they split right across the soles on both feet. I walk dogs in mine all winter but I did expect Hunters to last longer.

Not wellies, but while waiting to get served at our local industrial store, I noticed a pair of cheap Chinese boots on display -- so I tried them on. I've real peasants feet, very broad, and can never find boots to fit, but these did, so I bought them. Great! The most comfortable boots I've ever worn!

It was only later when I looked at them carefully that I noticed that I've got one size 10 and the other is size 9! Now, very few people have matching feet, so maybe this is a thought? Perhaps we need a "boot bank" so we can buy odd sizes and match them to individual feet rather than buying pairs with both the same size?:D Then we could own boots we can actually walk in!;)

Toggi duberry look-alikes. Sorry, can't rem what they're called. Fab, warm, waterproof, comfy, light, wear well. Good for dog walking & riding.

Before that, I had some Toggi wellies which stood up to several years of hard wear.

Ive got wide calves (years of ballet grr) and i didnt like the muck boots. I work in agriculture and live in Nora Dolomites - in winter i put a pair of thermal insoles in them as they arent lined - which is useful when you fall down holes full of slurry on a regular basis

If I could afford a horse pair Id have le chamaeu (sp) cos they are amazing, my mum has the ariat mudbuster and loves them for the foot support.

Muck Boots are supercomfy. I wear mine for dog walking and wore them to Glastonbury Festival (where you walk MILES every day) last time it was muddy. They kept my tootsies warm and dry and by the end of it was was the only one who wasn't complaining of sore feet.

Le chameau for me too. Can wear mine for everything, comfy as slippers, walk the dogs in them in the winter out on the hills, rough shooting with hubby, whatever I need them for they are ready to go lol

Aigle Parcours (the ones with the red neoprene lining) are the best boots I've ever had. Thick soles with great grip, really comfortable foot bed, adjustable calves, great looking. They are about £100, but absolutely worth every penny. I've had mine for about 6 years and they've had a hard life, but they are still going strong.
