Comfrey oil/ paste

Just a few questions for anyone who has used comfrey oil/paste/leaves as my horse has had tendon surgery and was thinking of getting some to help the healing process.

What sort did you use?
Did you have any success with it?
How did you use it?
How often did you use it?

I used it for a fracture (oil) as its known as knitbone, never heard of it for a tendon

I found the best (and easiest) thing for a tendon was a Bonner Bandage; worth it's weight in gold, very simple to use providing you have access to a freezer. Bonner bandages are brilliant things worth every penny when you look at dearer alternatives .

Avoid comfrey. It contains the same toxins as ragwort and is therefore toxic to the liver. It should not be fed to horses (or humans for that matter - see the hundreds of case reports of human deaths related to its use). I also wouldn't rate it for external use.
