Coming to call?

Usually they start walking to the gate if they hear the car!
But if they are next field I wander over to the gateway and either wave at Dave, found waving was better when the cattle are in field:rolleyes: or a slightly raised voice gets his attention. He will whinny at me and did help me out when he was stuck in a ditch at locating him as I shouted his name and he screeched at me:eek::rolleyes:
But Ollie and Honey snort at me then race me to the gate:o the joys of ponies!

Mine does...sometimes i don't even have to call out, as soon as he spots me he pelts it across the field, whinnying and coming to a sliding stop at the gate.
Saying that, i get the YO to get him in at nights in the winter and he does the same for her!!!

I think my boy just likes being in...who ever has come to get him

I had an Arab who would come to call. For various reasons I had to sell him but 5 years after selling him, he turned up at a yard next door to a friend of mine. I stood outside his field and called him . . . . . and even after 5 years he still came zooming over to me at a flat-out gallop! Made me cry, bless him . . . . (should never have sold him but that's life)
Conversely, the one I've got now doesn't even look up from grazing . . . :(

My boy only has to see me to come running over. I sometimes try sneaking along to see if I can be quiet enough not to catch his attention, but as soon as he hears my foot steps and looks up to see it's me, he's running over and following me along the fence line til we get to the gate.

My filly used to neigh to me when I called her name. So cute. I would drive past the field or walk to the field and shout her name and she'd look up and neigh and then come over.

4 out of 5 of mine come to call, I turn up beep the horn and they canter over. The other one will just stand there until you go and catch her.

Happily all of mine do and always have over the years.

Think I'd be quite cheesed off if I actually had to pick my way through the mud to go get a horse!!! I'm very spoilt by mine but then again maybe they know I'd just leave them there if they DIND'T come! :D:D

Yes mine do in the winter!-well 2 of mine do and my other one is always waiting by the gate when he ses me so I don't have to call him- my little youngster coblet trots and canters up to me when i call him and yesterday I called my other one and he cantered up to me talking at the same time which was really sweet!
