Thought I would do a separate competition report thread since they are quite thin on the ground at the min.
This was our 2nd ever dressage competition, four weeks after the first although at different venues. This particular venue has been running a dressage league over the winter and this one was the 5th leg out of 6.
There were 3 prelim tests running so I chose prelim 17 as I thought that would suit my horse the best. Turns out there were only 3 in the class and when I looked at previous results there was one horse and rider combo that has had a stand out league and they were entered. So I travelled along thinking that if I got within 5% of this team I would be very very happy.
M warmed up very nicely in a spooky indoor and was going well but I think I overcooked it a bit. At this point in time I think 15-20 mins warm up will do him whereas today it was more like 35 mins but you live and learn.
Into the test which was outdoor and we had lost a bit of forward and so that affected our rhythm a little but he went very well in the trot work apart from the odd wobble and the canter was a little backward. All in all though a decent try for 65.38%
When I went in to get my test sheet we were third as expected but to my absolute delight all three of us scored 65.something. M exceeded my expectations yet again and I'm just thrilled with him. Not only did he score well but he behaved impeccably and is such a cool customer.
