We had some sad news today, one of our favourite horses on the yard died from Colic.

I wasn't there but was told that it was compaction colic, apparantly this morning she was still passing faeces, they took her to the colic box after walking her around where she deteriorated rapidly, passed out twice and couldnt get up from the second.

I tried to google compaction colic but it only came up with impaction colic, does anyone know about compaction colic or are the two the same?

Its so sad she was such a lovely horse, so nice and gentle to ride with a fantastic stable manner

Thanks

Sorry you have lost one of your yard horses.

I too have never heard of compaction colic, is it possible the person who relayed the message got the two words mixed up and really meant to say impaction colic? Impactions can be very dangerous if they are severe and horses can go downhill very rapidly.

Hugs to all connections.X
