Companies that don't use Evri

I’ve had trouble with them this week.

I had an email this morning saying they delivered Monday, which was odd in itself.

Parcel Nowhere to be seen and very difficult to contact them. I have the App and can’t even see a photo as apparently theydon’t recognise my correct postcode 🙄

They did however manage to deliver a low value parcel today from the same company and postcode.

Our Evri guy is brilliant. It depends so much on who you have.
I agree, at a previous address l always declined stuff if EVRI were the carrier, the guy who delivers here is excellent and so far everything has arrived in time and in good order. I am currently having problems with a different courier who was due to deliver yesterday, told they were 2 stops away and then suddenly the parcel wasn’t in the van!!! On checking their feedback l discovered this was a regular occurance so won’t be using them again.

I've had all sorts of problems with Evri, but it's the stuff that just disappears that gets me. I bought a pair of bedside lamps and they managed to deliver ... one. You can only speak to robots, it's so infuriating. It's obvious that they don't care, though, and it's built into their business model.

Forgot to ask - does anyone know if Hope Valley uses Evri?
Don’t know who they use but would never buy anything from Hope Valley. Two attempts and both times item has been in stock and for immediate delivery - not true they didn’t have in stock and didn’t know when they could get it from their supplier!

On couriers not problems with Evri or DPD round here but just had huge problem with DX. Finally delivered on the 3rd day it was out delivery. I was going to shout at him but my whippety puppy spoiled that by squirming up to him for a cuddle and he responded with cuddles and saying how cute she was. No way I could shout at him then!

I run a tiny company selling my own inventions called byHiggins
It's tricky, as my local Evri delivery lady is brilliant but I know others elsewhere are not. So, I send things out (insured) with Royal Mail's Parcelforce48.

Snag here is how expensive it is. I charge from £12 per item but in reality, it's now costing me more than that, even through a broker - and then there's the cost of the box, and the tape, and the paper, and the printing etc etc on top.

BUT for a tiny enterprise like mine, I simply cannot afford the negative PR if something goes missing. So I soak up the cost.

I now wonder if buyers assume the P&P costs should be absorbed by the seller?

You can specify usually on checkout which company you do and don’t want them to send it with. If not, send an email straight after ordering.

I actually work for Evri. The parcel will have passed through that many hands before it gets to you, it would be impossible to work out where it might have got ‘lost’ unfortunately. We aren’t all bad though, just depends who you get. Our depot as a whole is one of the better ones.

When I have posted things in the past, I’ve always included the p&p in the total cost for the seller.

I even had Evri say they 'had tried to deliver my parcel but there was noone in' Not sure how he ascertained that fact as I was in the front garden and he passed by at 50 mph without pause!

unfortunately if a parcel is failed and carried to the next day Evri automatically sends this message to the customer - I’ve had a few customers ask me about this before. It won’t be that he tried, it will be that for whatever reason he didn’t make it to yours that day.

Update on the second (replacement) rug...

Yesterday afternoon the Evri tracking said that it was out for delivery! Hurrah!
However, it will not come as a surprise to you to hear that it didn't actually arrive (although the two bottles of detergent from weeks ago DID turn up!)

I checked the tracking again this morning and it said that the item was now being returned to Naylors.

Just phoned Naylors, who didn't know anything about it and said that their tracking showed that the rug was still at the depot.

After some discussion, Naylors have suggested that they send out another replacement rug (this is the third!) via DPD next day.
DPD is excellent up here so I'm pretty confident with this one!

Full marks to Naylors customer service for sorting this out! I just don't know why they use Evri in the first place as it's caused a load of hassle for them as well as me.

One lady in a Facebook group that I'm part of said that Evri had told her that the problem was down to her postcode being an 'unreliable location'. What a bizarre phrase! Especially if it's not 'unreliable' as far as other couriers are concerned. So if any of you are having trouble with deliveries, it's clearly your fault for living in an unreliable location!

Urg I ordered from naylors too. Wanted a heavyweight rug as Mr ratty chewed through my heaviest. Ordered 3 other item to get the 20% discount. For some reason they split my order in 2. The first half arrived OK but the 2nd which actually has the weatherbeeta rug failed to fiver on the 9th jan. Fair enough it was snowy so I brushed it off but now reading this thread I'm not holding out... naylors no longer have the rug in stock so can only offer refund, but I probably wouldn't have ordered any of it without the heavyweight rug!!!
