Can anybody help I need to find a companion for my colt and grazing as all my other horses are mares. He was born in May and is a good boy and been out with a herd of mares used to electric fencing and likes company. I would like to turn him away for the winter with other youngsters. He is TB x ID I am looking to keep him but think younsters for the first couple of years are best kept with other youngsters. Essex and Essex borders will pay for keep. Please PM if you can help or know anybody that is looking for same.

How long would you envisage having the colts together? I'm a first time breeder so am playing by ear at the moment. My 41/2 month colt is a very good boy so far. Will prob have him gelded next Spring. We have a very old mare on our yard that would make a good nanny but two colts might be too much for her longer term. My own mare is also very quiet but I want to wean around 8/9 months so need to sort that out too! It's a bit complicated.

I was after the same too but am also nowhere near! Everyone seemed to have mares/fillies available! So had to resort to buying one!!! hahaha!!! I pick him up next week, a sec dx colt foal to keep my warmblood colt company for the next 3 or so years!! Will be great for my foal to have company his own age as he's been an only foal until now! (things you do hey!!!!)

Yes - dead right. I've ended up with two shetland geldings, bless them, as leftovers from trying to engineer friendships and companions for my daughter's horse. She's moved on and I've still got the shetlands. Oh well - we're now training them to pull so they'll have a bit more status soon.

Ladies I have 2 mares one my broodmare (who was badly injured and may never be ridden again) hence colt and my mare 4 yr old holsteiner who I have also owned since a foal who I am working on at the moment. I am going to try and rehab my mare but if not then I will keep her as a brood mare and possibly loan her out as she is such a nice mare and an easy breeder with good bloodlines and keep the foal for me.

Whichever way I will decide next Spring and if I keep the colt I will have him cut as I need to keep him with my other mare who keeps him in line at the moment or sell him.

I also am looking for another colt foal to wean with my conne X Tb colt foal who is the only foal bred by us this year. I am based in Surrey and oftern barn run the youngsters for their first winter, with turn out on good weather days. He is due to be weaned late October, and I will also have to consider buying a foal if I cannot find a companion!

I have heard of some horses called Nutwood are you the owner of Nutwood Exhibitionist etc as my colt was bred from Garrybawn Skylark and he is from Surrey? Definitely interested perhaps we can talk about it?

I need the same for my IDXTB boy but I'm in Wiltshire! Would prefer to have both colts here at my yard but willing to discuss.
