just putting the feelers out really.

the yard im at is going to lose some grazing as the council are buying it to build houses on.

I have a 3yr old (but only just 3) 12 hand coloured pony - and i was wondering how likely it would be to possibly loan him as a companion as the yard is now talking restricted grazing- fine for my jumpers but pointless for my pony.

i dont want to sell him as i want to break him next year.
any ideas?

I'm not sure if someone would take him as a companion if you plan on having him back as really you are just getting free grass livery somewhere else.

Would you be taking him back to your yard when you start breaking him?

Have you thought about putting him on grass livery somewhere, is this available to you? If you were in Yorkshire I could offer him a field for a contribution to the livery but it's a bit far!!!

Is that him in your sig?

yeah thats him!

i can grass livery him - itsjust finding somewhere that has decent shelter for him.
i know what you mean re free livery - but it isnt intended as that - just thought if someone needed a companion for a while it would suit both parties - also if anyone wanted to break him and have him on loan long term they could.

there is a field opposite - but full of ragwort and even if i set to work on it it has very little shelter for the boy.

ho hum - maybe he will just have to get used to coming in and having hay!!

If he's young you should try to have him out as much as possible.

You see we could do with a companion for a short while so we can take the youngster who is being broken and the shettie out for walks without the Newfie going nuts and jumping out! But I'm not in a position to be able to pay livery for another one.

I'm not sure there will be many people like me but there might be. You could advertise and see if anyone replies, you never know!

i know he should be out as much as possible - hence me trying to find him grazing that isnt restricted!

oh well - we have an objections meeting where we will try to keep the use of the field until March 09 when they start building.
if we win its not a problem and he will stay!

I am one of those people who could have him with mine, but cannot justify paying for another.......I have plenty of grazing and am only in Cambridgeshire if you are interested..........

wayhey! There you go!

Out of interest, is it a compulsory purchase by the council? I think it's a bit mean....all this house building drives me mad when I see all of the empty older houses round here!
