Hallo, can any one please help , I am looking to loan a companion for my very sweet Anglo Arab Gelding, he's 14years old and 16.1hh and loves company [needs company]. I am having a total night mare trying to find one full stop .I am in Guildford Surrey, anything considered , many thanks

There was another lady who posted yesterday with two mares that need loan homes urgently due to the breakdown of her marriage. Both were rideable though one only a hack I think.

Try Ted Barnes. He's the local World Horse Welfare guy. Even if you can't get a companion from them (the vetting process takes ages!) he is likely to know if anyone local needs a companion home. Equally Blue Cross, Ada Cole and even the BHS match people who can offer companion loan homes to those with horses to loan. Good luck!

If my mare was just a little nicer, I would have given it a shot. Don't get me wrong, she has shared fields with other horses before on livery and even had cliques (who eyed me suspiciously everytime I came to get her!!!). She's only 5 but may need to be retired (or at least rested for over a year) due to injury. We used to live close to Guildford, too, a couple of months ago.

Am I weird to think she'd be fine sharing a paddock in a livery yard but not as a companion horse???

Try your local Police Equine Liaison Officer. They have their finger on the hoof, so to speak, about all your local equine welfare cases and are always desperate to find homes for local horses and ponies. Try Guildford or Woking Police.
