Hi everyone,
Im posting on behalf of someone else so please dont attack me!!

A friend of a friend....
An elderly lady is having to move in with family as she is now unable to live by herself, she has several animals who she has managed to find a home, except her "aged" show pony, i am not sure what age it is, but i know it is retired as it is lame, she is DESPERATELY looking for a companion home for it. If she cannot find one, it will be PTS, sadly. She has tried all the charities and they are all full, and she is desperately trying to do the right thing for her.

Please no abusive messages, she is distraught at this situation but ill health is meaning she must leave her house and is even having to give away dogs etc.

Pony is only one she cannot re home!!!

East Yorks location!!

Why is it lame?
If it is aged and needs care for the lameness then maybe pts is the best option.

It will be difficult to find another person to take the pony on.
They are out there and someone will give it a fab home but it will take time to track those poeple down.

Im still waiting to find out more info, i said id help as im not in any position to take it on myself.

As far as im aware it does not need any vets or care for lameness, it just cannot be ridden, when i find more info, i will post all info and pic hopefully.

For all i know, it would probably take a small child for walks etc, i believe its just arthritic and shed like to know it wasnt going to be ridden hard and find it as good a home as possible.

Ill get info to follow, i know i probably wont find a home, but id like to try my best for the poor pony :)

Oh dear, poor lady - bad enough that she is having to leave her home due to infirmness but this as well.

I really do hope the pony finds a good home.

Try to find out more details on lameness as if the pony is safe and honest a slight lamness can be overlooked for a goods tiny tots pony.

We have just spoken to the owner and the details are as follows

The pony is a 15 yr old chestnut show pony, approx 12hh gelding. The pony is x riding school so very good with children.
The pony is lame due to a previous kick injury where the bone has now calcified, the owner has never had to have vets out for any reason for lameness. However, she feels that the pony is sound enough for LIGHT work with a small child, in mostly walk and a few short trots, especially due to its riding school history.
The pony has been known to suffer from laminitis, so would need to be carefully managed with turnout, but is fine with management.

A sweet little pony by all accounts! :)

He sounds like an excellent childs first pony to me, I really hope he finds a nice home, sorry I am not able to help. A new arthritic pony would get bullied incessantly by our horses. :(

thanks Stencilface, i hope so too, i wish i was in a situation to help, but i said id help by using online contacts as she doesnt use computers!!

Also just realised, i didnt clear that up pony is not athritic as previously thought, lameness only due to kick injury calcifying :)

He sounds an excellent pony as long as no one wants him to do alot of work! :)
