be careful about this, there are peeps who will take your horse and then try to sell it, so insist on a trial period, this will put people off if this is what they have in mind

Never brought a companion, always had one on loan or was given one.
Loaned an old horse to a friend in the village - she had him for 5 years, but I could visit regually so never found it a problem.
