Which way are they supposed to go? I have been told that if the thinner part of the tread is towards the outside of the stirrup this then helps to relax your knee. However, I have seen pics in another mag and the rider has the thinner part of the tread facing inwards towards the horse. Which is it??

Thinner side towards the horse is correct. My daughter was constantly told she should wear them the other way by riders who never use them. One day she had a lesson with list 1 judge Inger Bryant who said she was the first person she'd seen using them correctly.

I thought the concept was to push your pinkietoe towards the outside of the stirrup to relax yr knee?

........

which would logically mean fat bit at horse's side?

I always thought they were supposed to be ridden with the thin side towards the horse, encourages you to keep the leg on at all time?

I've never used them but I know there is quite the split opinion on how they should be used at our yard...just like the brushing boots with double velcro, should the outer velcro face to the back or the front, the arguements about these things are comical
