I have entered for RWHS this year and in all the excitement *cough*fear*cough* didn't really check the human accommodation side.

Assuming no hook-ups. Not a biggy, have access to a quiet generator and happy to hunker down in the back of the box. But nothing in the schedule on website gives any clue as to what happens if you're staying in a box, aside from not being near the stables unless you are staying for the duration (I'm only there 2 nights), and no caravans.

So, my question is - for those that have stayed over at this show, can you?

If I have to stay in a hotel/B&B, can we drive off site in a car (got an extra pass for car, plus the one with horsebox) and back on? I am going to invest in a wheelie tack puller, but the nearest place to stay is a '2 minute' walk to the castle and I am guessing another 10/20 min walk to the stables etc (assuming you can walk that way, or do you have to go round to the other side?)

Erm, help. Not going to lie, panicking slightly now!!

You are fine to stay in box, as long as you have stable booked.
The car won't be likely to get in the box park tho, do ensure you have any necessary stuff in the box as you don't want to go traipsing about if weather bad!
There will be food wagons in the competitor area but be warned that all food is NOT cheap there, so if you can self cater a bit, that will save a lot of dosh.
Hope you have a good time, what classes are you doing as will look out for you if Weds or Thurs :)

Yep - Onsite Pony Hotel room booked :)

I've only ever been a spectator there, and there seems to be so little information to be found on the what, when and where's so trying to work out logistics what freaking me out a bit :( OH coming down later, hence being in the car, so not a big issue if it has to be parked elsewhere if we can stay in the box. Have booked a travelsquat in case the weather is dire (as will be effectively camping in the box), but then I was worrying about where to keep stuff etc. Guess will work on basis of everything in the box and go from there!!

I am on Friday in the Copper Horse Arena, but arriving Thursday, leaving Saturday so as not to have to do a 8-10hr round trip in 24hrs! Which are you doing?

Make sure you allow loads of time it can take 10mins or so to get to the rings. Have wheelbarrow and/or a trolley. I *think* they have kept the stables on the horsebox park side again this year (but don't quote me) you could be parked a fair way from the stables either way.
Have fun though I'm hoping it's dry this year..........

N-L-P, am not competing but as am rather local, am going the 2 days with friends as have got free tickets for the Weds & Thurs as usual.
Hope you have a lovely time - and pray that its NOT wet!
Agreed with splash30 - you def need to allow at least 10 mins to get to rings - and take lots of cleaning equipt if its at all wet (and lots of spare bandages/leg bags etc if horse is grey) and bucket with sponge too, as the trek can be like a quagmire (particularly as not the start of show) if its wet. However, just keep an eye on weather before you leave home as to what extras to pack in. Take bedding if you can, its v expensive on site (like most shows).

Fingers crossed its dry tho :)

I'm doing the Haflinger classes. Hoping the Nuglet doesn't induce treasonable behaviour as will be up against the Queen!

Yes, got bedding on order to pack. I literally fell of my chair at the cost - £15 a blade of shavings!!!

Think going to need OH car just to pack in more stuff
I am hoping for dry, I was a spectator a couple of years ago and it was the one day of rain over the whole show, and even allowing for being in hospitality marquee it was so miserable

I haven’t checked this year but for the past two years stabling has been by the lorry park rather than under the bridge closer to the rings. Much better, especially if you have more than one Pony but does take longer to get to rings.

I’ve always been able to park close to the stables and toilets and showers are close by. Make sure you’ve collected your wrist bands before you try and take Pony under the bridge, they do check everyone even if your sat on a bucking bronco!

You normally can’t get access to stable to 6pm so bear that in mind with your arrival time.
