Hi,

My mare is going to be doing intro/pre-novice this season, but she fires up when she sees a showjump. She also wont let my mums horse out of her site and bolts to her all the time.

I have been advised to try So Kalm Paste to help settle her, but is this safe to compete on? Does anybody else event using this paste?

thanks

Yep one of ours has it before sjing as he cant cope with the warm up. Seems to do the job and he's always perfectly alert etc- just knocks some of the anxiety off.

Interestingly, I tried it on Moon before hunting a few times and it did nothing. I also gave her some before hunting but ended up without a lift so hacked her instead and she was full of beans and normal Moon so couldnt say it failed due to over-exciting scenario...

Yep you can use it but have found it made no difference.
The best Ive found so far is Equistro Equaliser which is only used as and when needed and not every day.

Thanks, thats put my mind at rest.

I have also been advised to try Sedolin, but I would prefer to try the herbal types first.

I will see how she goes and hope she doesn't doze off.

I found So Kalm didn't have any effect on Finni, either.

Think Sedolin would be prohibited substance

Well I will give the So kalm a try and see if it works on her, as you say what works for one wont for another, if not I will try the Equistro Equaliser.

thanks for the tips!

and it may be that it wont work on her, but from what people are saying it will either not work or have a very mild effect so I dont need to worry about her falling asleep half way through her show jumping round

So Kalm Plus didn't work for mine either and I gave him a whole tube instead of 1/3.

You definately cannot compete on Sedolin - it's a banned substance.

Nupafeed is fantastic! And not a banned substance, although it is expensive, but the difference it made on a number of over excitable/anxious horses was incredible.
