Hello,

Just wanted to see if anyone knows of places that do hirelings but for competitions rather than just hunting? Or not even competitions, just somewhere I can do some proper jumping and maybe XC schooling, since I don’t have my own horse anymore.

I know of a great place in the Cotswolds that does this sort of thing but that’s a bit far from me now! I’m based in Leeds, so can travel to anywhere in a Yorkshire or over towards manchester and Lancashire too (hence why I didn’t post this in a regional board).

:)

I think you will struggle to hire a horse to compete on but some of the better level riding school will have decent level horses to give jump lessons on.

Remember the owner/premises of any horse you pay to ride will need a licence to hire out horses. No licence, no valid insurance.

I know a place that does though, but they’re too far away these days, I feel like they must be the only place that does in the country! It’s Jill Carenza Equestrian and you can get hirelings for eventing and fun rides etc

Jill has a very good reputation. She will need a licence under the new legislation.

I used to compete before I had my own horse. The riding school allowed you to hire their horses for onsite competitions and clinics. I used to do riding club in summer plus a few other things like winter show jumping, an arena eventing clinic etc
