I'm getting very confused!!

I want to compete my boy in ridng horse classes which may be affiliated to the british show hack cob and riding horse association as he fits into the small riding horse catagory, now can anyone give me any info on the process of registering your horse with this association as the website doesn't exactly fill you with much info!! Also any info on JMB life certificates would be much appreciated!!

Thanks <font color="blue"> </font> <font color="purple"> </font>

Thanks for info FFM but on the jmb website it doesn't explain about Life Height Certificates. How old does a horse have to be to have one and how much approximately does it cost??

It's all there (see below) - you just need to know which bit to look at!

1. Annual Certificates

i. Animals cannot be measured until they are four years old.

N.B. Age is computed as follows - A horse/pony is regarded as being one year old on 1st January next after the year in which it was foaled, and becomes two years old on the following 1st January and so on.

ii. Every animal regardless of its age has to have at least one Annual certificate before it can have a Full certificate.

iii. Annual Certificates are issued for horses and ponies of four, five and six years of age, or any animal aged seven years of over which is presented for its first measurement.

iv. All Annual Certificates expire on the 31st December in the year of measurement.

v. The Official Measurer for second or third Annual Certificates must be different from the Official Measurer who did the last measurement but can be from the same practice.

. Full Certificates

Full Certificates will be issued to horses and ponies seven years and over, provided that they have held an Annual Certificate. The Official Measurer for a Full Certificate must be from a different practice from that to which the Official Measurer who performed the last Annual Measurement belonged.

26. Fees

1. Measurement/Identification and issue of certificate. The whole fee covering this service is payable by the owner by one cheque, or by postal order, made out to the J.M.B. Ltd., and MUST be given to the Official Measurer for submission to the Board with the Measurement Results.

2 The Fee is £66.00 (Official Measurer £43.90 including VAT, JMB £22.10), for an Annual or Full Certificate. Owners may be charged half fee for broken appointments unless 24 hours’ notice is given.

oh brill, so you have to have an annual certificate before you can have a life certificate??

The British Show hack cob and riding horse site states that the height certificate has to be in 2007 for 2007 registrations is that right??
