Hi everyone, i have been giving a lazy horse competition mix over the last week or so to try and give him abit more energy as he is generally quite lazy, well yesterday he absolutely exploded, rearing, bucking, spinning round - he is never like this, he is usually very laid back. I was wondering how long it will take for all the mix to get out of his system ???????

We have turned him out 24/7 to let him down and try and calm him down, this is very very unlike him.

:(

Well the mix had the desired effect then??? :D

You would be better off feeding slow release energy feed such as alfalfa (Dengie - Hi-fi etc) rather than cereal based feed. Cereal / starchy feeds help with quick relaese energy (as you witnessed) and can hype up even the most docile... Maybe Phone a feed manufacturerfor professional advise before altering you horses feed regime again! (poor pony) lol or hold on tight! :)

Yes, i definitely learnt my lesson and will never do that again !

I was feeding the mix with his usual feed of Alfa A Oil and Speedi Beet, so i have just stopped the mix completely and just gone back to his usual feed, i just added the mix for abit of energy, but obviously this was a huge mistake !!
