This is also in competition riders, but it keeps disappearing

So I thought I would put it in here too!

Does anyone feed one?

If so:
What type of horse do you feed it to?

Do you feed it all of the time to support the work you are doing?

What competition mix do you use and why?

Why did you start feeding one?

I started to feed one last summer as horse lived out 24/7 on grass and was getting topline cubes but he lacked a little 'sparkle'. Put him on on two cups a day (split morning/evening) of Baileys Competition Mix and it worked wonders. He got his buzz back without being a fruitloop.

He came off it over the winter as it did start to make him a little too fizzy but ill def. be buying it again this summer.

Depending on the horse/work I tend to use Baileys All round endurance mix in the summer & their No 4 top line cubes in the winter, they suit my horses, are reasonably slow releasing for a competition mix & i like Baileys feeds, Swapped years ago after having problems with Spillers quality,

At the moment Anky has their H&P cubes (& a handful at that) as he does far too well to need any kind of added oomph!

What type of horse do you feed it to?
16.2hh, 7 year old 'dressage horse' (haha!)

Do you feed it all of the time to support the work you are doing?
Yes

What competition mix do you use and why?
Spillers Slow-release competition cubes

Why did you start feeding one?
Bought a bag as a transition from a winter of Spillers conditioning cubes onto just soya-sprayed chaff when the grass comes/came through. I was quite impressed with them as they didn't cause lumpy bumpiness, he had lots of 'useable energy' and maintained his weight (where as by late Feb the conditioning cubes would start increasing it and no cubes would end up with him looking a bit poor).
He's now on just soya chaff but if he needs a bit more energy i'd use them again.

What type of horse do you feed it to? Used to feed it to my TB dressage horse (don't anymore cos he is retired to hacking as of six months ago)
Do you feed it all of the time to support the work you are doing? Yes, I just adapt the amount, he can have between one and three scoops a day depending on work level
What competition mix do you use and why? Spillers slow release energy mix. Doesn't send him mad and means he's still manageable to handle but gives him some energy when ridden
Why did you start feeding one? he was very slow and lacking sparkle

Feed it to my 16.2 HH ISH.

Yes, he events so he gets it to support his fitness work and competing.
He gets Baileys No.6 endurance mix. That is all he gets fed alongside half amounts of Topspec for his feet. He will also get oats alongside this in the summer.

Started feeding him it as he lacked sparkel and had problems with endurane in his work!

The Baileys mix is fully balanced, but doesnt have high amounts of Biotin to help foot quality. Topsepc does, so he has it in that amount for his feet, but because he gets over the recommended amount for mins and vits for the Baileys mix, he doesnt need the "full" value of TS

In the summer when he gets fat, he will go on full TS as he will have under the recommended amount of Baileys

Goddy looks and feels awesome on it. Would recommend it

Just to add, he currently is getting about 2.5kg of Endurance mix a day, hence reduced levels of TS!

Feed spillers slow release energy to my 14.2 21yr old. Still doing a lot of dressage / local showing etc and ridden 5/6 days per week. Gets fat on fresh air but needs extra sparkle without oats. The mix was recomended by feed guy - and he's right - it does what it says on the tin. She old has 1/2 scoop + handful of chaff and joint supplement. Now living out as of last week.

Allen & Page Sustain, was impressed with this, used it on my other horse when he competition fit and on harder work, it gave him more staying power and enthusiasm but without any fizz, its a slow release energy mix. He was a cob, he just needed a little more sparkle and it really worked well.
