Right. As some of you may know I have a TB ex racer called Poutu. I have no idea what it means but I think its a french name. She is 5 and I want a show name for her. Everyone else has these long fancy names, I would like one for P

here are some pics of her. A full shot and a headshot. It would be a dressage name that I want, she is a very sweet and pretty mare but can have a feisty side

I'd just use Poutu as the competition name - it's nice and unusual, and there's no need for names to be long

You should be relieved, I've had some terrible names!

Thanks for your suggestions guys!!!
Poutu Point - I knew it was a place in NZ but Poutu is also apparently a porriage from South Africa and it means "beam" if I put it into a french translator.
Her sire is Acteur Francais and her Dam is Sanctus Lady. I have no idea if that is good or bad breeding

Her racing name was Poutu and so is her stable name but I would like something differant to show her under

Some of the suggestions are really good, and I will definately have a look on that website

THe French for beam is 'poutre', so I doubt it's that. It might be a play on the verb for power (pouvoir) but I'd guess it's linked to the NZ place.
FYI, this is her sire;

Acteur Francais (USA)

20-y-o (01Jan88 b h)
Al Nasr (FR) (10.3f) — Kilmona (USA) (Bold Bidder (USA) (10.2f))
Trainer A Fabre

Owner Paul De Moussac

Breeder Maylands Stud Ltd

And this is her dam,

Sanctus Lady (IRE)

13-y-o (20May95 b m)
High Estate (9.6f) — La Toulzanie (FR) (Sanctus II )
Trainer N Clement
Owner N Clement
Breeder Katom Ltd

How about 'Sanctity' ??

I thought Sanctimonious was a bit horrid!

I like Sanctity..
It would be nice to know what her name really ment. We were told it as a play in the verb Poutre, which is where I got Beam from.
Would be nice to know what on earth they were thinking when they named her

Just to be pedantic, and I can't help myself, POUTRE is a noun, as in the word for a beam that holds roofs and floors up!!!
There is no word to beam, as in light, in French. At least, not a direct translation anyway.

Anorak off, and slinking out the door...........

You could call her Poutine. It's a Quebecois dish, chips & cheese curds & gravy. Very yummy! Or Pepper Poutine. Poutine au Poivre...
