I don't wear a number as I think it looks awful!

I normally put on bridle number and a number on my saddle cloth.

Thanks Dianchi. When you say "it looks awful" what do you mean and why? Not sure on rules governing numbers for riders (I'm a ballroom dancer not a rider!!) but I know in my competitions we have to wear a number on our back at all times when competing

I use whatever they give me!
I do have a number bib for eventing but have only done 2 affiliated ones and most unaffilated ones give you a number bib. Most local shows give numbers ready on a piece of black curling ribbon so I just use that. I'm way too disorganised to take anything else with me.

I think that a tatty piece of cardboard looks awful and doesn't look smart in the dressage arena. Worse are the bits of plastic tape/string that they give you as then it gets tied round you, some comps you don't have to wear numbers, one of the local comp centres tells the judge your number as you enter the ring so no need for wearing numbers.

Most UA hunter trials will hand out bibs, you usually leave a small deposit, £5 or £10 and its returned when you return the bib. If you're going BE you'll need to get your own bib.

I use thin black elastic looped around the buttons on my lower back.
It's neat/ tidy and noone knows it is there unless you forget to cut off the excess, as is completely hidden by the number/ buttons. It stays there permanently unless i'm using bridle numbers, so I don't have to faff on show days.
