Ok, am thinking well in advance here but we'll be looking for a Stallion to put on a TB mare in the Spring to breed something to showjump/Event at a decent level for my daughter.

The mare is approx 15.3 by Dancing High (Shirley Heights), good conformation and fab movement. She will have a foal at foot (barring disasters!) and she is very highly strung (luckily her offspring are not!) so I only want to send her somewhere that really knows their stuff.

Any suggestions? Would prefer something that's offspring have achieved good competition results. We are on the NE coast and don't want to travel mum and baby too far.

Rather than limiting yourself to a stallion standing in that area, is there not a good ai vets or stud that the mare and foal can go to and use AI for the stallion???

we are up in the north east and a friend of mine has just had her mare put to Grafenstoltz (sp) who we saw at bramham this year and WOW! If you want an eventer he is an absolute MUST to look out for! She originally tried with Jazz Time II but no success, so mare is now AI'd with Graf and I cannot wait.

Have a look up for his Facebook page or

If you want some colour as well this chap may be suitable he is known very well for his calm temperament and his offspring are doing very well in Event breeding classes in at Bramham this year and last year his oldest offspring bred at Angrove are only three year old but he from the Mr Todd and Tullibards Shakespear on his dam sires side. good luck with your search.
we are in the North East 8 miles from Middlebrough

If you want something with a great jump and lovely calm trainable temperament and willing to try a young stallion then my chap might be worth looking at...Mr Darco

Although his oldest baby is only a yearling, he really does stamp a really powerful athletic type. He has both SJ and Event lines, he will be eventing himself for the first time soon. Feel free to PM me for more info.

Some good suggestions, wouldn't send her to Glenwood and sorry Angrove - coloureds are out my daughter doesn't do coloureds (I do, I have a mare due to foal any day to Stormhill Mink and the TB is due to a homozygous traditional next Spring :)).

AI, unfortunately, is not the best option for this particular mare, too much handling and scanning etc. does not suit her, she finds natural covering much less stressful.

My kinda horse natural all the way! You will get some good responses through the day, best bet is to look on stallions online firstly. Then if you come back with a more detailed list the gang on here wil find something that takes your interest.:)
