Does anyone have access to a checklist for staying over at a competition?
We have got to stay over at Myerscough for the BD regional finals in feb as for some reason they have decided to run the Prelim & Novice on consecutive day (thurs & fri). Crazy idea!

If you mean a list of everything you need to take, then
1. Everything you think you might possibly need.
2. Everything else.

things most easily forgotten, imh experience: girth, breastplate, hat, chocolate.
good luck!

Just the usual stuff as well the horses feeds, hay, buckets and whatever rugs. I make my feed up and put them in a bin bag, then tie up (my method of tying is that the one in a knot is the evening feed and the one tied in a bow is a morning feed!). Take mucking out tools if they dont provide any but if they're permanent stables then Id assume they would have. Otherwise takes lots of cosy clothes and food for yourself!

Hmmm, there is a book ,which I have somewhere stuffed in a dusty shelf, with a checklist. Or poss you could search online.

Also, you could look up Pony Club camp checklist, we get one of those each year, for the littluns, very similar.

Basically it breaks down -

Feed, water, hay, haylage, bedding, buckets, first aid kit, leg wear, stable rugs, etc for horse

Grooming kit, shampoos, stable rubbers, sponges, more buckets, plaiting bands, thread, needles, studs kit if required, hoof polish, vaseline, all that jazz for turnout of horse

Tack - including all aspects, saddle cloth, number disc, etc

Tests

Your things for staying over, food, chocolate, drink, (and water!) bed, spare stuff i.e. batteries, casual clothes, waterproofs, membership details, passport, RAC/AA cover, horse recovery cover, phone, charger, etc. poss your first aid stuff. diary, notes, pens, etc

Your competition clothing, polish, sewing kit, all items, check this through. maybe spare cream jods.

I would always recommend taking a NZ.

The temp stables up there are quite good but when it rains they don't tend to be the most waterproof, so to keeo your horse nice and dry I would recommend a NZ.

Also don't forget your wellies, again with the wet it can get quite muddy round the stable area.

If you are going to be plaiting up early, don't forget something to stand on to plait, also a torch.

I find that putting a large door mat by the steps of my lorry helps to keep the living a bit cleaner when staying away as trying to get into those white breeches when everything is wet can be a bit of a killer.

Making up feeds before you go really helps when you have an early start.

If leaving horses plaited from nighgt before don't forget a hood.

You will def need your mucking out kit.

Water buckets are something I quite often forget.

Also your duvet!!

Hope that helps. If you think you might need it just stick it in. no one needs to know that you will have packed your yard, your house and the kitchen sink for one night away!!!

And if you forget something don't worry because they have a shop there!!

glad they have a shop!!
We're going up on the wednesday, coming back on the friday, hopefully with some rosettes! Ill be on groom duty as it's my wife competing her youngster whilst im waiting for the eventing season to kick-in...

Do you mean............... Saddle, bridle, saddle cloth, boots, (for you and horse) rugs, your competition clothes, buckets, (feed and water for horse) dressage tests, whip, food for you unless you'll be sneaking off to pub. Bedding if you are staying in box, a bottle of wine or something similar. Oh and a change of clothes.

We are there on the Friday but luckily don't have to stay over.

TORCH!! After trying to find my way round an unfamiliar farm by the light of the screen on my mobile phone while staying over at Henbury (you have to keep pressing the button to get the light to stay on....) I would put a torch at the top of every list I make ever again.
