Hi,
Ive recently had to have my vet out to deal with my horse, the condition is irrelevant and will take to long to describe here. what I am wanting to know is if I have grounds to complain and who I go too.

All bills have been settled by my insurance company but when i received the invioice (upon request) it shows that my vets have said they have made over 6 call outs which didnt happen... this amounts to over £400 pound. Its not an issue for me at the moment but with the condition being progressive and the bill already up to £2500 of my 5k limit Im thinking i may reach my limit and then have to start paying myself. The £400 in clear black and white as they didnt visit the yard and i have work camera footage to show i was in work and livery bills to show my horse was done on livery. There are many other errors that I could also question but i feel the vets will be able to squirm out of these. like i was chaged an examination fees some days but not others yet the vet did exactly the same just came to give an injection shot of antibiotics. He didnt actually look at the horses legs and i have witnesses that were also there at the time. also there is a claim for a tendon scan which i have never had results for. This happened after 7pm apparently on the day she arrived at the hospital (she had nothing wrong with her tendons) her legs were never shaved as i visited her every day she was there.

does anyone have any advice.....

Just ring the practice and tell them you have noticed a discrepancy on the bill - and would like it adjusted.

Hi,
I have tried ringing the practice. I even travelled all the way over to see them. The vets are always apparently unavailable to talk. They have had 2 weeks now and Ive still heard nothing. The receptionist just says she will need to check with the vet. The trouble is the bill has been paid by NFU so Im assuming the vets are unwilling to admit that they made mistakles and refund nfu their money.

Was a tiny bit scared of doing this in case the insurance company got funny with me. I dont want the insurance company to refuse to pay things. Im assuming it would be up to the vets to then prove that they did in fact carry out the work.... Do you know if tendon scans would be recorded on a computer?

Oh what a drag for you!! I would suggest you get a bit heavy handed and explain to the receptionist that you are very disgruntled and will be contacting NFU (to advise them you have been overcharged) this afternoon, unless one of the vets contacts you to explain the anomolies with the bill. Sadly you will probably find that low level threats help get their attention  :D

I would write a letter to the practice, outline the areas that are unclear to you and ask them to contact you by X date. Inform them that if you do not have a satisfactory explanation by that date you will be informing the Insurance company that they have been invoiced incorrectly/fraudulantly

That's not your problem hun. If you get no joy ask to speak to the general manager (all vets have one) and if you do not get any help with this contact the ombudsman

I'd tell your insurance company and let them deal with it. They will take it very seriously, insurance companies are very hot on all types of fraud at the moment, and that is what this is!
