Where is the best place to make a complaint about management/horse welfare at a riding school/centre?
Needs to be anonymous hence posting this on a more unused account and not willing to publicly share any details but centre was originally set up by BHS (but not sure if it is still affiliated with BHS).
Thank you in advance!

Association of British Riding Schools, local authority,BHS, RSPCA,WHW and if you think it warrants it,the Police.you can also contact the media, tabloids and the BBC. How far you take it depends on what the issue is and what the BHS etc decide to do about it and what evidence you have eg evidence of abuse on film.

I would report to the local council who have the responsibility of licensing Riding School
A Google search will give you the list of BHS approved schools if it’s on approved list the BHS will take a complaint very seriously You need to do both, always report failing riding schools to the council .

Depends on what the complaint refers to?

Client experience/crap lesson/coaching - directly to the centre in question
Something that goes above that, say a safegaurding issue - the BHS will steer you in the right direction, and believe they used to do anoymous visits too if needs be if an approved centre
Horse welfare related - the BHS will take a dim view (again if an approved centre) and contact the licencing council too

Though simply by what you've posted, I could make a guess at where you may be referring to!

NB - if it's an ABRS centre, just replace BHS with ABRS above, but they're a much smaller, less able organisation.
