Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any experience of the above??? I’m just looking for some general advice and peoples own experiences.

I'm in the process of lodging my complaint with my previous practice in relation to a professional negligence claim, I will also be registering this with the RCVS and I’m in talks with my solicitor.

Just wanted to get some views on peoples own experiences with this type of process, any help or advice would be gratefully received :-)

Hi
Good luck. I had cause to make a claim against a vet my practice brought in as a locum. My vet told me to send him the complaint as he was in agreement with me. Once the locum vets insurance the veterinary defence society got involved it was a nightmare. You really need a solicitor experienced with dealing them as they use every dirty trick in the book. I did win in the end but a lesser person would have given up and that is what they rely on. You can get a solicitor through your house insurance but make sure you do use a proper horse solicitor. PM me if you want the name of the solicito rI used he was excellent and the house insurance paid for him, he enjoys dealing with the VDS and is not intimidated by them !

I totally agree that you should use an equine specialist. Often one's insurance through, for example a house contents policy, will refer you to a panel firm with no experience of horse cases. Insist on your legal right to freedom of choice of solicitor.

Kind regards, HorseSolicitor
