Be prepared, Its quite long!
A good friend of mine asked me along to small SJ comp at her yard this morning, she has a rather green youngster that she is trying to get used to the comp environment ect. before venturing out too far, as he has the tendency to get very intimidated by large amouts of people/noise and horses, bless him. Idea was that could I ride her other horse for her, as she wanted to concentrate on Pads. Yes that was no problem.
Anyway, arrived and tacked up, Pads was fine.. 100%improvement to the complete strops he normally throws. At yard there are two outdoor arenas and 2 indoor, one that is solely for use of liveries only. So off we went in there, only 3 horses in there and all was well. Until this stupid brat, dressed head to toe in JWhitaker stuff, name on back of jacket, father marching behind, comes cantering down the path leading to the entrance, doesnt even bother to ASK if she could come in the livery only arena(it was well signposted and she most certainly wasnt a livery!) and just canters straight in, into the path of J and Paddy.
Poor Paddy just went ballistic, He managed to throw J straight into the wall of arena.
He looked so distressed, it broke my heart. Luckily I was not riding as my class was not to be until quite later, and I was able to catch him as he made his bid for freedom. Checked J was ok, she bounced straight back up, bless her, shes a damn good rider. She took Pads back to yard to sort him out, whilst I, completly and utterly SPITTING mad, made way to this girl, told her to stop and get out of the arena. When I tried to explain that this was a livery only arena, she said that she had been SJing prof for 10years (WTF!!!) and she had every right to be here. I could quite honestly have slapped her one, however did not think it would look too good if I did!
The way she was behaving was COMPLETLY out of order, she did not even stop when she realised that J had been thrown from Pads
No apology, nothing! I left YM to deal with it, last I heard she was asked to leave and after a fuss, she did so. Meanwhile, Pads has gone totally back to square One, J spent half an hour on my shoulder crying, I just cannot believe that all her hard work has been completly undone by one stupid brat. She wasnt even young, about the same age as me (16/17) and should bloody well know better!!
What a disastrous day
