Following on from some of the other threads. Does it work out cheaper to feed a complete feed or balancer?

Red mills feed seems to be fairly reasonable and considering moving away from straights and balancer.

You have to feed the recommended amount of complete feed in order to get all the vits/mins. Great if you have a poor doer, awful if you have a good doer! My TB did fine on a complete feed as she needed the full amount, but it's always been more practical to give the ponies a bit of beet/chaff and a vitamin/mineral powder. I like the NAF one, but the Codlivine tub does give a good shine to the coat!

I agree with @maya2008 complete feeds have to fed in the recommended amounts (which I find a lot of people don't do, they just give a scoop which could be too much or not enough).

Personally, I tend to stick with a balancer and chaff because I have a very good doer and I find it easier to feed the correct amount of balancer.
