Completely disgusted with some young people's attitudes.

I can not belive the head teacher diddnt see the problem

Even if they diddnt understand how badly the horses could have been ninjured, they MUST care about the schools reputation and the safety of its pupils??

I think you are probably best to keep the horses out of that field if you can possably avoid it,if they went back after the police visit to do it again I doubt much will stop them

I am lost for words

Thats appauling. Thank god the police are taking it seriously. It really makes you wonder what they will be capable of when they grow up

Absolutely disgusting!!!!
I know some kids who set a barn on fire which is bad enough, but they wouldn't have done anything to deliberately hurt any animals. I think they were trying to get at the owner of the farm tbh.

I would agree with the recommendation of electric fencing. Several strands of it round the field, set up to about 6ft high. Wired to the mains... as long as you put notices up saying 'caution electric fence' you cannot be held responsible for any teenager that decides to touch it.

I would also be tempted to put up a sign saying 'CCTV in operation', because if you have no CCTV the little bleeders will worry MORE about the fact they can't see the supposed CCTV

It's a shame farmers can't shoot kids for worrying livestock like they can dogs. It neednt be lethal, a stun gun would suffice

Hi, all friends,

Sad thing is that law is so often against us lot who do things right...Ok, kids doing naughty things is one thing. Kids doing threatening things with guns + things need A LOT MORE CONTROL, initially by their own parents.

I've taught + loved many...
But the court hearings, giving out such daft sentences.....

Well, who's going to join me? I'm Robin! Of Innerleithen Forest!!

I don't know if anyone has suggested this so I do apologise if I'm repeating anything already mentioned by other posters - but have you thought about going to the local press Rosiie? It might sound a little silly - but there was a similar situation back home a couple of years ago. Once the local press were involved - basically questioning exactly how much the teenagers in question were allowed to get away with at a particular school etc - the head of the school they came from was a hell of a lot more co-operative in doing whatever was necessary to stop it from happening within school hours!!!

God that's shocking, i cant imagine what i would do in that situation, i'd be besides myself. I think your idea of mesh electric fencing might be a good one... I can't see a way they would be able to trap a horse with it without getting enough nasty shocks to put them off. Also the signs for cctv someone mentioned are a good plan, as i reckon any cameras would become a target.

Unfortunately once they know how much it has bothered someone (which the police going in has shown them all) they will probably decide it's a fun way to spend their sad little lives, and i don't think the school or parents can realistically stop it short of lockingt hem up 24/7.

If it were my horses/field, i think i would be moving them elsewhere for quite some time in the hope the kids will forget or find some other poor victim to annoy.

These kids must be seriously fecked up. We had horses next to our secondary school for as long as i can remember, and even though there were some nasty pieces of work they never thought to target the animals, just each other- natural selection

I have to agree, I'd want to fight them with fencing cctv etc, but bottom line is, you just can't guarantee that you can keep the horses safe. Right now what they have done IS awful but they haven't physically touched the horses - yet. I think taking them on might escalate things. Holidays coming up too.

I'd move them, and get a local cow farmer to give the field a nice covering of fertiliser, a very very thick one...

you could put the electric fence in front of a normal fence - so the horses can't be reached from the electric fence

I like this idea

Horrid. really horrid I dont know what england is coming too but id like to reccomend that you put up - (£$£$£ though it may be - perhaps the school would like to help pay for it otherwise the press I am sure would love to take it and run with it? - Blackmail - me - HUH?)
a Gallagher electric fence system - run off the mains ideally - that'd sort the little feckers out - 3/4 strands thick so its not climbable through or under.

I am truely horiffied - go the the press. - I bet most the ciren students I know would happilly lynch em for you too!!! xx

Like everyone else, speechless!

Just pure evil, why children of today could think of such a thing to do, they obviously need help in my eye, although I'd rather give them a good old battering!

Hope it all gets resolved and they find the individuals that did this.

i agree with the person that said go to the local press... may shame the head techer into doing something... i actually cannot believe ANYONE would do such a thing baffles me!
