Would you be comfortable with doing a BE80 on the Thurs, followed by a HT on the Sunday?
Horse is a tb and keeps his fitness well, and will have done a HT a week and a half before too, but I'm not sure if this is too much.

Problem is that I work so much that I never get to compete, but I've got 2 weeks off over Easter and want to make the most of it.

What do you think? I can offer toffee waffles in return ;)

Wouldn't have an issue, often quite good to get a period of several events close together then a rest. Also at the moment ground should be quite good so unless gets v wetter and heavy go for it.

Once upon a time (not that long ago) horses were expected to work 10 or 12 hour days 6 days a week. ;)
Really won't be a problem, racehorses run on consecutive days (more in Ireland than here), Show jumpers can often jump 2 or 3 days on the bounce (at GP level!) so I definitely don't think any harm will be done by 2 small events with 3 days rest (or not) in between!

Thanks everyone :)

OK I think that's made my mind up then! And it's only Sapey so nice and flat anyhow. Now just have to find the money.....

Think the "rule" is to do fast work every 4 days (to clear lactic acid build up, repair and recovery of muscles...or something along those lines) so if you ODE on Thurs the next allowable fast work day is Sunday, so that's fine.

You will have a fair idea of your horses fitness and how quickly his breathing & heartrate recovered from the last HT. Many eventers consider a hunter trial as a good fitness run and tbh at the heights you are talking about the exertion is probably much less than the excitement!! Go for it & enjoy it :D
I'm jealous as I have to wait until 7th April for my first XC run of the season, its been far too long
