My horse is well schooled however some days can be a total numpty. He just completely loses concentration at the slightest thing (he is not spooky). The head goes up in the clouds etc. Sometimes it takes me ages to soften him again and get some good work out of him. He is just such a big horse to have an argument with at the best of times. When i have days like this it really makes me feel crap. Any body else have any simular experiences with their love neddies

Like you wouldn’t believe.

My horse is spooky at home but really settled at a competition, strange animal.

They are some fruit trees at the bottom of the ménage (other side of the fence) the owner has left some step ladders there so i folded them up and lay them on the floor thinking that would be enough. Tacked up and walked round the ménage, he wouldn’t even walk up half way when i insisted he threatened to rear (which never does) so i rode him at the bottom end for about 10 mins each time i was facing it he went sideways. The vet arrived so i had to get off, when i was ready to ride again (2 hours later) i moved the ladders all together and he went straight up the ménage no issue.

He is a pain in the neck, he is also an 18hh hunter so is not easy to have the argument with.

I feel your pain.

I had to do some jumping practice yesterday with three loose ponies following so close they had their noses in her tail! Mine is very spooky and loses concentration within seconds, if a tree rustles, a horse moves in the field, a bird flies past... you name it she gets distracted at it. It's annoying but I find she comes back quite quick if I talk to her she seems to concentrate on my voice and pays more attention. That might sound daft I know. She's definitely a scatterbrain sometimes!

I know just what you mean.

Directly opposite to Bess's stable is parked a lovely big tractor and 2 horse boxes which tootle about most of the day. However should we come across said vehicles on the road she shies away slightly like she has never seen on in her life!

Last night I was riding her in the outdoor school and one of the horse boxes was being parked and she acted like it was some kind of lion about to leap on her. Funny horse.
