Im *not entirely* sure if i can ask this here as only just joined the forum.

We want to put a concrete base down at the top of our paddock
Its just for a mobile stable to sit on really

Does anyone know how much roughly it would cost? I'm in pencader wales

We want a 10x12 stable on there and abit of over hang so i figured 15 x 20 would be a decent size

Any experience with this?

No idea on cost, sorry. But I'm pretty sure this is classed as engineering works and requires planning. No problem if you're not overlooked or have nice neighbours that won't report you.

We recently put in a base for a stable and tack room roughly that size. It cost about a thousand pounds by the time we totalled up sub-base, metal reinforcement, cement and aggregate. I think that also included the brickie who laid the single course of bricks for the stable to sit on.

We didn't have to buy wood for shuttering, or hire mixers or anyone to dig out the foundation, so could have been worse.
If I was doing it again, I'd have the concrete delivered ready-mix. Probably not much more expensive, and much quicker/easier.

We put a concrete floor in one stable twenty years ago, left the other three as earth floors. This summer I am intending to take the concrete floor out and have all four as earth floors!

Concrete for the base is £75 (ish) inc vat per m3.

Personally what I would recommend doing is getting a local civil engineering contractor in to do the work, especially if you have to dig it out. By the time you've hired plant to do that, it's easier to have paid someone to do it.

You could look at supplying the materials yourself though, as above, ready mix concrete is probably what you want comes in a nice big mixer and is just tipped in your hole ready to go.

Probably could get away with out having any rebar inside, although if you do it will be stronger.

You may want to think about the concrete being slightly sloped to allow for drainage. If you get a contractor in they will best advise on what specification of material is best.
