Hi there. I had stables built last year and am finding that the stable floors are very dusty, almost to the point of flaking away. In one stable, straw is used (others on shavings) and in the wee areas there is a definite indent in the concrete where it is coming away.

I know I have to seal them, but what with? Should I get it skimmed first?

Help please!!

I dont know about sealing. It sounds to me like the concrete wasnt laid properly. Ive had 2 lots of stables built and never known it to crumble like you say. Maybe the mix wasnt correct?

It's possible they didn't use farm pave concrete which is urine resistant. Have you thought about laying rubber floor sealant on the floors instead? Not the matting but the stuff you mix up and it bind to the concrete so there is no urine in contact with the concrete?
