I was wondering what people think of Frankie's confirmation and current condition??

***Sorry he is a mess I just brought him in from the field and didn't have a lot of time to do a full groom. Hope you can see his legs past all the mud!***

If anyone asks the farrier is due Monday - he lost his shoe today

i want ALL opinions - so then I know what I am working with and want needs to be improved!! I know he has a weak back and so I am trying to improve his topline, that's a work in progress!!

He doesn't jump yet but that's the plan! I think he could do well, except he is quite spooky

Yep - if he's eaten too much they can turn a bit 'blimp'! my Irish TB used to go into the field and come back looking like a shire horse - and not be able to move!
 
Aww bless the hat I was convinced it was a fly fringe or something! Maybe he pretends he's batman in the field when you're not looking?

Confo - I'd say he looks bigger on his forehand than his quarters, so he might have trouble powering through from behind to work properly. Does he fall onto the forehand quite easily? If he were mine I'd be looking for schooling to develop muscles in his quarters, lighten him off the forehand and strengthen his back because he does look a little bit long backed.

Doesn't look too bad on any of the points above though, just being very particular to try and help

What do you do with him? I think he'd make a nice equitation or dressage type.

Heya Jen, he has some cracking markings. Love his hat LOL. I think he is quite photogenic, I bet he scrubs up really well.

I adore grey horses but at this time of year I am glad I have a Bay!

I think he looks a little bit heavier in front than behind so you could try to even that up as Naturally suggests. Would be nice to see some more muscle on his behind but he doesn't need any more weight.
I am not an expert by any means but I just know what my eye likes! might not even be right hehe xx
 
I think he is lovely!

Im not usually a fan of horses with a lot of white, but he is very handsome! With a bit more muscle in the right places he would be amazing!

I can see what you mean about the large shoulder - I am on a mission to even him up and strengthen his back with lots of schooling, lessons and lunging!

I'm trying to get him off his forehand because he does tend to pull himself along - so I expect that is why is shoulder muscle is so big!

he is starting to stretch down nicely but still is lazy (or finds it hard) to track up so I'm working on that. people have said that he will find it hard to use his back end when his back is so weak - but it is a work in progress!

I lunged him today over some poles and was very happy with the end result - it took him a while to warm and loosen up but was really working hard towards the end!

Jen,

I think he's rather lovely actually. He has a wonderful shoulder, deep through the girth and is short coupled. He is a little straight through his hock, but nothing dire.

He's in great condition, just right I'd say for a horse not in a lot of work - although I wouldn't want to see any more weight on him.

Cut a foot of his tail, and he'd look even better...........

p.s. please don't tie your horse to a gate, it's soooo dangerous.
