hi, I plan on showing this year (if it isn't a wash out like last year!) And I want him to look his best.

He is currently on Molly chaff original and a basic mix with sugarbeet in winter.

I know there are conditining cubes and the like, but what do they do and are they worth it?

My horse is grey, so I an I get the best from his coat? He is currently clipped as he is in regular work.

Any advice welcomed.

well my grey is fully clipped, on wheat feed ( doesnt fizz ) molly chaff, conditioning cubes, and basic mix, and her coat is currently at her best!

hope this helped.

I have an iron grey welsh section B which we show and a 3yo (well strictly speaking 4yo now) chestnut welsh sec D x TB. I bought the chestnut in September as a 3yo just backed and thought she lacked a bit of condition and she had no topline and so I tried her on Baileys conditioning No4, hi fi lite and cod liver oil and carrots etc and also gave the section B the same obviously a smaller ration but when the weather got colder and wetter and couldn't ride so often I thought i would like to give sugar beet but still with conditioning feed ( didn't want the horses to be on the ceiling every time we rode either) so I asked at the feed merchants and they suggested Alpha Beet instead of the baileys so now they get hi fi Lite, cod liver oil and the big mare has 3/4kg alpha beet (dry weight) soaked and the little one as 1/4kg alpha beet (dry weight) soaked with hi fi lite and cod liver oil etc. The little pony has been to pony club and has had loads of comments about how well she looks this winter, her coat is blooming and she looks really well but is managable for my daughter and the bigger mare really is starting to fill out and she looks a lot better without being unrideable. The alpha beet is also laminitis trust approved. They both look well but without being fat. I don't know how economical it would be to feed in a large horse but it works out really economical at the moment I am using 1 bag of Hi Fi Lite per month and 1 bag of Alpha beet I think about £14 in all. If you go on the Dengie website it has a lot info on it.

depends what you want to achive, do you want now weight on him or just a better coat if you want to improve his coat we feed a splash of soya oil
