Conditioning - linseed oil or seed?!

Following my post a couple of weeks back, my horse is now being fed a scoop of Alfa, half of speed beet, one of conditioning cubes, and half (if that) of mix... However, I'm thinking of cutting out the mix completely and replacing it with linseed possibly? I'm totally confused as to what is better for conditioning though - oil or seed?! Or can any oil be used?! Any help is much appreciated!! He's a 16.3 warmblood if that helps, and I really would like him to put some weight on a bit quicker! Ad lib hay is constant too. Feeds are twice a day, although after riding I take a couple of big handfuls from each for a lunch for him.

Micronised linseed which is lightly heat treated seed and lightly rolled. Charnwood Milling sells it.
Feed 100 to 200gms for conditioning something around 15 hh.
That is per day.
You seem to be feeding a lot of grub, I suggest you weight tape every week, main thing is to provide AD LIB hay/haylage and have the teeth rasped so he can chew properly.
I don't know what size of scoop you are using, best to weigh the ingredients, weigh his hay intake as well.
I would make it a bit simpler, as other have said cut out the "mix", the Spillers High fibre cubes are good for conditioning without fizz. But you may not be providing the daily requirements for minerals.
There is no point in trying to force feed using hard feeds. How much weight has he put on in the last 4 weeks? It is best to be scientific, get a weigh tape or measure the girth and do the calculations.

He seems to be putting on weight around the belly (girth not going up as much) it's more on his back/ hips? I guess this will just improve with time? Thank you I'll have a look! Would you say the micronised linseed is better than oil?

Yes I would say it is better, it is less processed and contains fibre, easy to feed.
As I say you need to measure the girth as per the instructions, this is what tells you the weight not the belly. And the measurement from point of shoulder to point of buttock will increase as weight is put on. You will not be able to see the girth getting bigger, it is does not work that way, we are talking an inch a week you can never see that.
You need to exercise correctly and regularly as well to build muscles in the correct places.
