Condititiong Ideas? sp?!

I always thought alfa oil was better with the higher fat content but when vet came to check my elderly, skinny (29) TB over before we hit winter she asked what I was feeding. When I said alfa oil (amongst other things) she suggested changing to alfa -a as it has higher protien levels and would be easier for her digestion to make the most of???

I also feed her baileys senior mix, sugar beet and cod liver oil split in to 4 feeds a day.

thank you jens

Alfa-A Oil is by far the better product for putting on weight due to the soya oil content. Whereas the Alfa-A Original is a mollassed alfa. Once your horse has gotten used to digesting oil (about 2 weeks) then that is the one which will help condition better. Vets aren't always great at actual feed company products! Not that I'm slating vets - I love mine! The best combo would be Alfa-A Oil, Alfa-Beet and a balancer if you want a non-heating, fibre diet. Baileys No. 4 cubes are the best cube on the market for condition. In my experience anyway! Or even Equilibrium Condition. I use this, and Alfa-Beet on mine and this works for me! I recommend these to my customers and I always get positive feedback!

alfa a oil but i use alfa beet and add some sunflower oil by hand can buy from supermarket much cheaper!!!

I also use a feed balancer which one depends on horse and prefence i use tops spec on mare as it hasnt got any cereal in it and she is very fizzy but blue chip and equlibrium can be equally as good on different horses.

Good quality haylage is also fab for putting and keeping on weight.
