Hi, just seeing if anyone has any suggestions for Connie stallions with especially good feet? Preferably big feet.😆 And good bone.
My tb mare has tiny little feet and I want to give any baby the best possible chance of having a bigger set of hooves.
I have studied all the popular ones online but not seen any in the flesh.
Thinking Josie Jump, Hearnesbrook New Moon, Tulira Darog, Glencarrig Dolphin. Bonus if not too far from the midlands.
Any advice greatly appreciated xx

Okay I have no idea how big his feet are 🙈

But I think this pony is delightful

Ooo Thankyou. I will look him up.
Sounds gorgeous. Great temperament. And good bone 😍😍

Be very careful about hindlimb conformation. Connemaras are prone to quite upright, straight hind legs and there are a few popular stallions with this trait. Makes them much more likely to suffer from all the usual back end issues.
Thanks for heads up. I need to visit some in the flesh really but they are all a fair distance away. Xx

I used Killour Star (Barrowby Connemaras) last year and have a lovely filly foal with lots of bone and good feet. I spent months researching and visiting stallions and decided on him. My second choice was Tulira Darog, but only because he was grey. I have known a number of grey connemaras who developed melanomas. My foal is out of a mostly TB mare. Foal has a good temperament and is easy to handle. I live in the far south of England so visiting Barrowby was a very long trip, but worth it in the end.

I’ve used Tulira Darog on my mare . She’s due in April .
I met him at the stallion show and was thoroughly impressed with his calm /laid back attitude. He’s a Proper stamp of a traditional Connie , short cannon bone and a chunk . The owners showed me photos of him at a children’s birthday party giving bareback rides .
