Confidence crisis- regular user- new name embarrassed!

Hi, I dont think there is a problem with the horse at all and i think he is the right horse- like i say i am usually confident and rode him no problems from theirs- Its more a mental thing of the first time getting on at mine after my accident (on the other horse who went back)
The saddle is mine- bought for the last horse. I need to use it just for the trial period then will get a saddler out and px it for a properly fitted one. Just cant risk doing that before i commit to buying!.
I really want a horse and this one is lovely like i say its my problem not his! Once i've got over this initial crisis things will be fine, I will be off and away...just need to get the handbrake unjammed!!

Get an instructor out for your first ride, to help you, or take him to an instructors yard.

Or if you do not want to do this, after lunging/long reining with the saddle, and ensuring that you are getting good transitions up to canter and back to walk, ie, he is listening to you. (May take 2-3 days in a row goundwork, or 15 mins) hope on at a walk, and just ask him to do a bit a pace you feel comfortable with, if this is walk only then that is ok. Take your time and do not go faster than you need to.

If things are going well, ask for an extension of trial period, say 2 weeks, explain, you have had confidence issues, they may be happy with this if the horse market is slow over there.

That what we call a "messed up broken horse" (well in my french way) It's the horse that has lurned to throw away rider from his back... It's not even a mean thing for them, it a reflex...

He nead to be rebroken, with trust, time and respect.

After, it can be the saddle but, how many peaple have the wrong saddle and with horses that are "fine" (they wont try absolutly to throw their rider away).
If the seller told you that he was like that before, I dont think you should keep him:o He need to much work...

After, I might be totally wrong due too, I dont know the horse at all.
