Hi, I'm hoping for some opinions and some people's success stories!

Basically, I've lost loads of confidence jumping for absolutely no reason!! My boy is pretty genuine, although has had some stops which I think is due to my lack of confidence. I've not been having a great time of it recently, general confidence been down among other things and I've just started on Fluoxetine for depression. I'm hoping that on this my confidence will start to improve along with everything else and my riding will be back to how it was. I've got no reason to feel like this, no reason to be unconfident etc which is really annoying!! Anyone else experienced this and knows what im going on about and how I feel? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

(sorry, this may not be the best place to put this but I didnt know where else to!)

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I can not at all comment from the depression perspective but, when I was younger I had literally no confidence when it came to jumping through always getting thrown off or being made to jump to big. This caused my father to enlist a sports psychologist which was so helpful to me, one of the things he told me to do was buy a book and write down each positive thing I did when I jumped. For example 21/06/14 ''Had a good jump lesson, horse went calmly and jumped each fence holding a nice rhythm''. the reason behind this was each time and did not think I could something I would read through the book to show myself that it was possible.
I do realise that this might not be what you mean and I am sorry!

I really hope you pick up soon

When I started on anti depressants I found they did really knock me sideways at first in terms of how confident I felt. I mean, they aided me hugely in not having mega anxiety issues but generally they knocked the stuffing out of me for a fair while. So maybe just scale it back to where you're happy and just slowly build up as you feel ready- there's no rush.

Thank you everyone! I did a hunter trial today and I decided to drop down to 2ft6 which I'm glad I did and was clear so that was a bit of a boost!
